THE IMPORTANT STUFF

QUESTIONS?
WE'VE GOT
ANSWERS.

Everything you need to know about our mission, our socks, returns and the practical stuff.

How do your socks give back?
♡

Every pair helps protect wildlife and wild places — we just do it in two ways. Our original adult and baby socks support the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and our new Rainforest Toddler Collection supports Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS), protecting one square metre of rainforest with every pair.

Why do some socks support WWF and others support BOS?
∞

Our original range has always given a share of every sale to WWF, and it still does. When we created the Rainforest Toddler Collection we wanted to go further and protect rainforest by the square metre, so we partnered directly with Borneo Orangutan Survival.

Over time, BOS and the 1m² promise are becoming the heart of what we do.

How much of my money goes to charity?
%

For our original range, we give 2% of every sale to WWF — for example, 2% of a £10 order is 20p, and 2% of a £45 sweatshirt is 90p.

For the Rainforest Toddler Collection, we give a fixed 25p from every pair to BOS — enough to protect one square metre of rainforest.

Why give a percentage of the sale, and not of profit?
✓

Because it's honest and it's guaranteed. Some brands donate a percentage of profit — the money left after all their costs are paid — which can end up being very little, and nothing at all in a hard year.

We give a percentage of the sale instead, taken off the top, so you always know exactly what your purchase contributes, no matter how our year is going.

Who are Borneo Orangutan Survival (BOS), and why did you choose them?
♡

BOS rescue orphaned and displaced orangutans and give them a second chance. Through years of care, forest school and pre-release islands, they prepare each orangutan to return to the wild — and they protect the primary rainforest those orangutans are released back into.

That mix of rescuing animals and safeguarding the forest itself is exactly the work we wanted to support.

What does "1 pair = 1m² of rainforest protected" mean?
1m²

That idea inspired the Rainforest Toddler Collection and our partnership with BOS, supporting their work in Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park (TNBBBR).

It's a particularly precious patch of wild. Among these trees live BOS orangutans who once arrived in their care as vulnerable orphans. After years of rehabilitation, forest school and pre-release islands, they have finally returned to where they belong — climbing, exploring and making their own mischief in the rainforest.

Every pair you buy protects one square metre of it.

What are your socks made from?
≈

Adult socks: 85% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, 10% Polyester, 5% Spandex.

Baby Socks: 80% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, 18% Polyamide, 2% Elastane.

The organic cotton makes them soft and breathable, with just enough stretch to keep their shape and stay put.

Why cotton and not bamboo?
◎

Bamboo sounds greener than it often is. Almost all "bamboo" fabric is actually bamboo viscose — the plant dissolved into pulp using a chemically intensive process — which is why bamboo fabric can't be certified organic: the leading organic textile standard, GOTS, classes it as a regenerated fibre and won't certify it as organic, even if the plant was grown organically.

Our organic cotton, by contrast, is GOTS-certified from farm to finished sock. It's also naturally hard-wearing, which matters for little socks that get washed again and again.

What makes your socks eco-friendly?
✓

Three things, all independently certified rather than just claimed.

The cotton is GOTS-certified organic (grown without harmful pesticides, to strict environmental and social standards). The dyes are OEKO-TEX certified, meaning they're tested free from harmful substances and safe against skin. And the packaging is FSC-certified, so the card comes from responsibly managed forests.

Where and how are they made? Are they ethically made?
♡

Yes. Our socks are made in a factory that's independently audited for ethics to the SMETA standard (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit), which checks working conditions, fair pay, health and safety, and responsible practice.

Alongside that, our products carry the certifications above — GOTS, OEKO-TEX and FSC — so the ethics and the eco credentials are both backed by third parties, not just our word.

Are they soft and good for sensitive skin?
☺

Very. Organic cotton is naturally soft and breathable, and because our dyes are OEKO-TEX certified free from harmful substances, the socks are gentle even on delicate little feet.

What size should I choose?
↕
  • Baby socks: ages 0–18 months.
  • Toddler socks (the Rainforest Collection): ages 2–4.
  • Adult socks: Small — UK 4–7 / EU 36–41 / US 6–9, or Large — UK 8–12 / EU 42–47 / US 9–13.

If you're buying a gift and aren't sure, don't worry — you can swap sizes easily (see our returns policy below).

What's your returns and exchange policy?
↺

If something isn't quite right, you have 60 days from receiving your order to return it. Items should be unworn and unused, with tags attached and in their original packaging, along with your proof of purchase.

To start, just email us at hello@criticallyendangeredsocks.com and we'll take it from there.

You can read the full policy here: our refund policy .

Can I return socks once they've been opened or worn?
!

For hygiene reasons, socks need to be unworn and unused, with tags attached and in their original packaging.

If anything arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect, please get in touch as soon as it lands and we'll sort it.

How do I exchange for a different size or character?
⇄

The quickest way is to return your original order and place a new one once your return has been accepted.

Email us at hello@criticallyendangeredsocks.com and we'll help.

How long do refunds take?
✓

Once your return reaches us and we've checked everything over, we'll process your refund within 5 working days, back to your original payment method.

Depending on your bank, it can take a little longer to appear in your account.

How do I wash them, and will they shrink?
≈

Wash cool (30°C) and air dry to keep them soft and bright. Because organic cotton isn't chemically treated, they may shrink very slightly in the first wash and then settle — that's completely normal.

Where do you ship, and how much is delivery?
↑

We ship within the UK. Delivery costs depend on your order, and it's free on everything over £30.

How long will delivery take, and what's the last order date for Christmas?
↑

Once dispatched, orders usually arrive within 4 working days.

To arrive in time for Christmas, please order by 10th December.
